The SOS Children's Village Foundation is a non-profit foundation based in Munich and supports the work of the SOS Children's Village .

Foundation and financing

The foundation was established in Munich in 2003 with a capital of 500,000 euros.

More than 750 donors support the foundation, whose roof capital, according to own information, amounted to € 30.2 million in 2017. The capital of 67 trust foundations, with which donors can support a special project or a certain institution of the association, amounted to a further € 25.5 million.

The umbrella foundation's distribution to the SOS Children's Villages Association takes place once a year. Managing director Petra Träger and the three-person board decide which offers and projects will be funded.

Goals of the foundation

According to the statutes, the aim of the foundation is "the permanent support of disadvantaged children, young people, families and people with disabilities". The umbrella foundation has three strategic priorities: promoting the children in care and their families, measures for education, school and vocational training, and assistance in emergencies.

Patrons

The patrons of the foundation are Armin Maiwald and Christoph Biemann from Sendung mit der Maus .
