Marcus Westen (born March 28, 1969 ) is a German pool and snooker player . He is a three-time German snooker master and was once German pool champion .

Career

West achieved his first major successes in snooker: He became German snooker champion in 1995 , 1996 and 1998 . He also came second in 1997 and third in 1999 .

At the German Pool Billiards Championship in 2005 , Westen won his first pool medal; Bronze in 8-ball . In addition, he won the German 8-Ball Team Cup with BSG Osnabrück in 2005 and 2006 . At the German championship in 2006 he finished second in 9-ball . At the EM 2007 he reached the semi-finals in 8-ball. There he lost to Oliver Ortmann , who eventually became European champion. At the 8-Ball World Cup in 2008 , he only lost in the round of 16 against the Briton Chris Melling . In 2008 , Westen was German team champion with BSG Osnabrück . At the German Pool Billiards Championship 2010 he came second in 9-ball.

At the 2011 Federal 10-Ball Championship , Westen won the silver medal. About a month later he became the German 8-ball master at the German pool championship. In 2013 he finished third in the 8-ball. In 2014 he received the silver medal in the 10-ball.

Marcus Westen is a commercial employee and lives in Bielefeld . His nickname in the pool scene is Terrier and he plays a Pechauer brand cue .
