German snooker championship
The German Snooker Championship is a competition to determine the German champion in the snooker variant of billiards . It has been held annually since 1988 in different categories (men, women, seniors & youth). Bad Wildungen has been the permanent venue for the competitions that take place from the end of October to the beginning of November since 2005 . The German championship title for teams has been played in the snooker Bundesliga since 1999 .
Title holder (DSKV)
From 1989 to 1998 a German champion was determined twice a year on the basis of two existing German snooker umbrella organizations. The German Snooker Control Association (DSKV) had held open and international German championships as early as 1987. In 1989 a German championship title was finally awarded for the first time. Since the number of participants in the first two women's championships was only small, the tournament was no longer held from 1991 to at least 1993; the women were allowed to take part in the men's championship instead. At least one other women's championship was held between 1994 and 1997; during this time Sigrid Kahl was able to win a title. From 1992 on, tournaments for doubles and teams were also held. In 1999, a championship for seniors was also held, which was won by Peter Barnes .
Peter Wagner was the record winner with three titles at the men's tournament.
Title holder (DBU)
DBU record holders are Lasse Münstermann , Patrick Einsle and Marcus Westen with 3 titles each for men, Natascha Niermann with 8 titles for women and Frank Schröder with 6 titles for seniors.
Title holder (6-Reds)
Since 2016, a federal championship in the 6-Reds variant has also been held. Both men and women are allowed to participate. In 2019 the tournament was held as a German championship for the first time .
