Maltese Snooker Championship

The Maltese Snooker Championship is a competition to determine the national champion in snooker billiards in Malta .

history

While there had been a national championship in English Billiards since 1942, a title was not played annually in snooker until 1947. Wilfred Asciak and Paul Mifsud achieved several titles in both disciplines. Lewis Pio Galea won the first edition in 1947/48.

Title holder

The record winner of the tournament is Paul Mifsud with 19 titles and 22 finals. Alfred (19 finals) and Alex Borg (23) follow in second place with 13 titles each . The most famous winner is Tony Drago , who later became Malta's most successful snooker player with position 10 in the world.
