history

Men

In 1984, a national snooker championship was held in Sweden for the first time, Mikael Hallgren defeated Bengt Bjorkman . Bjorkman was to become the more dominant player in the early years of the championship: He won the next three editions, once against Hallgren, twice against Ronny Johansson , who won the title in 1988 against Nils Bohling . After Mikael Hallgren made his second title win in 1989, Ronny Johansson defeated Bengt Bjorkman in 1990 and drew level with Hallgren in the number of titles. Between 1991 and 1993 Bjorkman was able to win three more titles, so that he had won a total of six titles. In 1994 the loser from the previous year won; Kevin Zarakani defeated Mattias Wiberg in the final . Wiberg himself won against Bjorkman a year later, but lost again to Zarakani the following year. In 1997 Bengt Bjorkman won his seventh title with a 7-1 win over Mattias Wiberg, and it would be his last appearance in the final. The following two championships went back to Kevin Zarakani, who was defeated in 2000 by Mattias Wiberg in the final. But within the next four years, Zarakani drew level with the still-record title holder Bengt Bjorkman and finally overtook him in 2004 with a 6: 4 over Farhan Mirza .

Mirza defeated the now eight-time title holder a year later 6-2, so that the Pakistani-born was also the title holder. In 2006 Kevin Zarakani won his ninth title, he was able to defeat the finalist from 2003, Mattias Enerdal , 6-1 in the final . Enerdal provided the only white wash in the final the following year , as he lost 6-0 to Jim Johansson . Johansson won his first title in the Swedish championship. The following year the final went into the decider when Mats Eriksson beat Farhan Mirza. Mirza was able to win in the following two years, in 2009 against Jim Johansson, in 2010 again against Eriksson. Also in 2011 Mirza was in the final, but he lost to Zarakani, who won his tenth title. In 2012 Mirza won again with a 6: 4 over Bairaq Al-Urfy . Al-Urfy then caused a small sensation in 2013. In the final he met Arpat Pulat , whom he had already defeated 5-1 in the final of the U21 championship of the same year. Al-Urfy repeated this result and became the first Swedish double champion. In 2014 and 2015, Farhan Mirza and Jim Johansson faced each other in the finals, both times Mirza won 6-1 and 6-2 respectively. After Simon Lindblom, a newcomer to the final, won the title in 2016, Mats Eriksson won the second time in 2017 after his success in 2008. In 2018, Hendrik Svedstedt won the title against 2007 winner Jim Johansson. Johansson was also able to reach the final the following year, but lost there for the fifth time against Simon Lindblom, who became Swedish champion for the second time after 2016.

Women

The Erstaustragung the Women's Championship took place in 1997, won in a round-robin mode Ann-Sofie Lofgren , (n. 1) one year later in the final against Helena Nyberg (n. 2) lost. Nyberg won the championship in the following two years until it was replaced by Lofgren in 2001. A year later, Ulrika Andersson won her first title. In 2003 Lofgren won the championship for the third time, a year later Andersson won the second time. In 2005 Lofgren won again, for the second time over Bea Röpke , and in 2006 she was able to win the title with a 3-1. The next five years Helena Nyberg was Swedish champion, three times she beat Lofgren in the final. After there was no competition in 2012, Ann-Sofie Lofgren won her fifth title in 2013, defeating Helena Nyberg 3-2. The following year, however, they lost 3-1 to Nyberg. In 2015 Ulrika Andersson won again, who became Swedish champion again after 11 years. Louise Furberg won her first title in 2016, but lost to Nyberg in 2017 and 2018. This is the record winner with a total of 11 titles and 15 finals.

Seniors

The first known senior championship took place in 2004, the finalist of the 1988 men's championship, Nils Bohling , won 4-2 against Steffan Asberg . (Note 3) Bohling defended his title the following year with a 4-0 win over Joakim Hirsch , but in 2006 he lost the final against Johan Hultsjö . This was also in the final in the following years, but had to admit defeat Mattias Enerdal in 2007 and Nils Bohling in 2008. Bohling reached the final for the fifth time in 2009, but lost 4-1 to Peter Engberg . In 2010 he won his third title, this time with a 4-0 win over Steffan Åsberg . In the following years Henrik Svedstedt won the senior championship, always winning 4-0: 2011 against Michael Bingmert , 2012 against Johan Hultsjö and 2013 against Magnus Westerlund . Svedstedt won again in 2014, this time 4-1 against Mats Eriksson. However, he won four competitions in the next five years, only in 2016 there was another winner with Andy Nettleton .

Juniors

The first known junior championship took place in 2005, Pontus Reece-Lagerqvist won the first edition with a 3-0 win over Stefan Szot . The following year Douglas Appelberg won the Uno Wallgrens Cup , as the trophy was named, with a 3-1 win against Suleman Kukka-Salman . Also in 2007 there was a new title holder with Christoffer Koba , a U19 and an U16 tournament were played parallel to this championship, and in 2008 the junior championship was discontinued.

Viktor Jonsson won the first U16 tournament with a 2-0 win over Alexander Westholm , who beat Simon Lindblom 3-1 in 2008 . In 2009 the runner-up from the previous year won again, Lindblom defeated Leo Sjörgen 3-1. Benjamin McCabe was Swedish champion from 2010 to 2013 , in the meantime the age limit has been raised from 16 to 17 years. In 2014 Morgan Högren won 3-1 against Rickard Höglund in the final . The last championship in this age group was held in 2015, Andrej Nasibov defeated Belan Sharif 3-2 in the final.

The first winner in the U19 tournament was Suleman Kukka-Salman, who had already reached the final of the junior championship last year. Bairaq Al-Urfy won the championship title in 2008 and was back in the final the following year, which he lost 2: 5 to Kukka-Salman. In 2010 Benjamin McCabe, who was also champion in the U16 class, won 4-2 over Alexander Westholm. In 2011 the age limit was increased here too, the U19 championship became the U21 championship. This year the same players were in the final as two years ago, Kukka-Salman again won against Al-Urfy, this time with 5: 1. Arpat Pulat was in the final of both junior championships in 2012, but also lost in the U21 championship, here 4-0 against Al-Urfy. In 2013 there were the same final opponents and the same result in both the men's championship and the U21 championship: Bairaq Al-Urfy defeated Arpat Pulat 5-1. For Al-Urfy this was the fifth final participation in the U19 / U21 championship. Pulat won for it the following year, beating Belan Sharif 5-4. In 2015, Sharif beat McCabe 5-0. With McCabe, the runner-up of the previous year won for the third time in a row. He defeated Johan Lindqvist 4-0. In 2017 the two finalists from 2014 faced each other again, but this time Sharif beat Pulat 4-2. The reigning junior champion is Anrej Nasibov , who defeated Nils Ritenius Manjer 4-1 in the final and who won the title 5-2 against Max Nettleton last year .
