Mikael Hallgren (born October 23, 1964 ) is a Swedish pool and snooker player . He became European champion in 1988 .

Career

At the European Youth Championship in 1983 Mikael Hallgren won bronze in the 8-ball of the juniors. Two years later he won a medal for the first time in the men's European Championship . In 8-ball he reached the final, but lost to his compatriot Björn Jonsson . In 1988 he was 8-ball European champion in the final against the German Thomas Engert . A year later he reached the 8-ball final again at the European Championships . This time, however, he lost to Ralf Souquet . In 1990 he reached the final in 9-ball and lost it against Engert. He was also a European champion with the Swedish team.

In 2009 Hallgren finished fifth in 9-ball and 14/1 endless at the Senior European Championships .

Hallgren was also the Swedish snooker champion in 1984 and 1989 .
