Ralf Souquet (born November 29, 1968 in Eschweiler ) is a German pool player .

Since 1981 he has won more than 200 tournaments, including over 40 German championships and over 30 European championships, mainly in the 9-ball discipline .

Career

Souquet began at the age of six with the billiards in the restaurant of his parents, where he trained up to five hours a day. He won his first junior title at the German junior championship in 1983 at the age of 14.

In 1985 Souquet won his first European Championship, but as a junior in the men's team. 1986 was followed by his first individual European championship among the juniors. Souquet has been a professional since 1991. In 1996 he won the World Cup in 9-Ball , as the second German after Oliver Ortmann , who had succeeded the year before.

In addition, he is 19-time European champion in men's singles , ten times in 8-ball (1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003) and five times in 9-ball (1995, 1997, 1998, 2006) , 2010) and three times in 14 and 1 endless (1995, 1996, 1997). In 2010 he also won the 10-ball , which was played for the first time as part of the European Championship.

Further great successes of his sporting career are the six victories at the World Pool Masters (1994, 1996, 2000, 2002 , 2006 , 2011 ), the win of the US Open in 9-ball 2002, his three victories in the Derby City Classic in 9-ball (2004, 2006, 2008) and his 23 tournament victories on the Euro Tour (most recently the North Cyprus Open 2014 , the Italian Open 2017 and the Klagenfurt Open 2017 ).

In 2008 Souquet finally achieved his second world championship title by winning the 8-ball World Cup.

In 2007 he played for Europe at the Mosconi Cup for the eleventh time and won the decisive game 6: 4 over Rodney Morris , securing Europe the Mosconi Cup for the third time. His nickname in the pool scene is The Kaiser . Also in 2008 on his twelfth appearance, with six wins in six games, he made a decisive contribution to Europe being able to defend the title for the first time. At the Mosconi Cup 2009 (now his thirteenth participation), however, he was defeated in the last game Shane van Boening 2: 6, whereby Team USA won 11: 7. With the same line-up, the German team reached the final again at the 2011 edition and won it 10: 4 against the team from Thailand.
