General

Kozoom was founded in September 1998 (the broadcast began in February 1999) by Xavier Carrer , himself a carom player, two-time French champion and friend of the three-cushion world champion Frédéric Caudron . The initial objective was to broadcast carom tournaments . Pool tournaments in the USA and Europe were added. World and European championships have also been broadcast live since the mid-2000s. To this end, Kozoom has entered into a cooperative with all the major billiard associations, thus securing exclusive worldwide broadcasting rights.

The games will be broadcast in live streams for a fee. These are e.g. Currently available in three versions: 48 hours, 1 month and annual subscription (as of December 2016) . The special feature of their transmission system is that, with the exception of interviews, they are broadcast without comment. This makes it possible for Kozoom to transmit from all tables at the same time. There is always a so-called "TV table". Particularly attractive games (so-called "highlights") are played on it. This table is equipped with three cameramen in addition to the top and front views usual at the other tables. These operate, among other things, gallows cameras and steadicams . It is possible for the viewer to choose the table whose game (s) he / she favors.

The biggest challenge for the company was broadcasting the European carom championships in 2013 and 2015, when they broadcast from all 20 tables at the same time. Since 2013, the broadcaster has also owned the broadcasting rights for the Verhoeven Open in New York. It will be the first tournament on the North American continent that Kozoom will broadcast from.

On behalf of the World and European Associations Kozoom has been keeping tournament statistics and player profiles for years. Kozoom was not only a reporter for the 2015 and 2016 World Championships in Bordeaux, but also acted as an organizer and ensured that the World Cup was held in France, his home country, for the first time since 2000.

In 2005 the online store was added. The sports-specific accessories can be bought there. Kozoom has with some queue manufacturers such as B. Layani, Exclusive Contracts.

In 2013, 64 tournaments were broadcast live on 174 days and more than 550 videos were produced that can be viewed retrospectively in the archive for every registered user. In addition, Kozoom offers the option of looking for possible solutions for various designs in the archive. These are set by professional players and are for educational purposes.

On April 22nd, 2016 Kozoom signed a 2-year contract with UMB for the exclusive worldwide rights to the broadcasting and marketing of the tournaments organized by UMB. The contract runs until December 31, 2019.

Historical contract with the UMB

At the last World Cup tournament in 2017 in El-Guna, Egypt, the UMB entered into a "historic contract" with Kozoom. This contract stipulates that Kozoom will be granted all broadcast rights to UMB tournaments for the next 5 years, until 2023. In addition, Kozoom is allowed to host its own new tournaments, such as a Continental Cup and a whole series of Masters.

Cooperation with MyWebSport

Since 2015 there has been a pool table with the MyWebSport technology in their company headquarters in Andernos . MyWebSport was developed by the Austrian carom player Andreas Efler . If the technology is available, it offers the option of booking players for online training units. Since it is a live stream, this technology can be used worldwide and at any time. Such tables are often found in tournaments in the public access area and visitors can compete with players from around the world. In addition to Efler, the players who offer training sessions include Marco Zanetti and Martin Horn . In 2012 the technology was installed in the Seoul office. It was the first of its kind in Asia.
