My Web Sport (spelling: MYWEBSPORTCOM) is an Austrian company that uses patented video and laser technology to enable new training options and tournament formats in billiards (initially only carom ). The functional principle is similar to that of correspondence chess .

history

Representation of the ball tracking using running lines

On April 18, 2008, My Web Sport applied for a patent for their technology. The game system invented by Thomas Riml and co-developed by the Austrian three-cushion player Andreas Efler is based on the idea of "meeting" with other players around the world via the Internet in order to play and / or train together. The first version went online on June 10th of that year, and in May 2009 the first public presentation was carried out in the billiard sports arena in Innsbruck. In November 2011, BC Stuttgart was the first club to introduce the system outside of Austria. A year later, the first systems outside of Europe were inaugurated in South Korea, including in the Billiard Academy of William Oh , the Korean Kozoom boss, in Cheongju. The system has been in use at the German three-cushion masters since 2013 . In June 2015 the first international tournament with six venues (2 × Vienna, Innsbruck, Essen, Berlin and the Belgian Zutendaal) took place. The winner was the German world champion Wolfgang Zenkner . Since March 2017 it has been possible to display and save ball tracking (see picture). This allows individual trains to be analyzed better afterwards.

With the three- cushion Challenge Masters (3CC) in Seoul, the system was officially used for the first time in a UMB tournament.

A version for English Billiards is in the works.

functionality

The camera mounted above the table records the game situation (location A), determines the ball position, processes it using a special computer program and transfers the position via the Internet to the playing partner at location B. The computer there then marks one after the other (white, yellow, red ) the position of the balls, which are then placed by the player or referee with a positioning aid. During training, the players communicate using the headset and can follow the opposing game on the monitor.

Possible applications

My Web Sport offers the (licensed!) Owners / players of such a system their own portals to connect with players worldwide.

  • Trainer portal: Players can search for and book suitable trainers here. Trainers can offer their help on their behalf and on their own account.
  • Match portal: Top players can be booked here.
  • Player portal: Players can search for opponents or training partners (sorted by discipline).
  • Tournament portal: Licensed players can take part in tournaments. These are organized by the My Web Sport World Association (MWA), which was also founded in 2008 . Member clubs can organize and offer tournaments according to MWA regulations at any time.

technology

The equipment consists of the following components:

  • Camera system (position determination of the balls)
  • Laser device, including drive motors
  • Film camera and TV screen for broadcasting the game situation at the table (viewer's perspective)
