Andreas Efler was born in Vienna in 1967. He spent all of his school days in Switzerland , near the city of Basel , where he also graduated from high school in 1987. At the age of 19 he came into contact with Karom Billard for the first time and was enrolled in the Basel Billard Club . After two years with the series disciplines free game and cadre , he switched to three cushion . Through intensive contact with the French world-class player Robert Weingart, he made decisive progress, nationally and internationally.

Efler won his first title at the Austrian three cushion championship in 1999. By 2018 he was able to win 6 gold medals at the ÖSM.

Today Andreas Efler lives again in Vienna, where he holds three-cushion courses and tries to make the sport more popular. Together with Robert Leiter he produced a DVD on which the effects of pool shots could be made visible with the help of special cameras.
