The Euro Tour is a series of pool tournaments in Europe. The tournaments are organized by the European Pocket Billiard Federation (EPBF) and the Promoter International Billiard Promotions (IBP). Partners include the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA), billiard cloth manufacturer Iwan Simonis and the Aramith - billiard balls from Saluc .

History and rules

Such tournaments have been held annually in various European countries since 1992. Usually five to ten tournaments are held each year. The exception was 1997, when not a single regular tournament took place. Between 1999 and 2001 a total of six tournaments for wheelchair users were organized; the event was then discontinued. There were also three women-only tournaments between 2004 and 2005. Occasionally, women also achieve top places in the field of participants, which is dominated by men. It managed Jasmin Ouschan example, 2007 Rankweil to the last sixteen.

Non-European players are also allowed to take part in the tournaments (in contrast to the European Pool Billiards Championship ) - so far there have even been three non-European winners with Francisco Bustamante (Philippines), Ismael Páez (Mexico), Johnny Archer and Shane van Boening (both USA ). The proportion of non-European players is usually rather low.

The tournament winner currently receives prize money of € 3,500; the total prize money paid out per tournament is currently € 34,000. Via the Euro-Tour you can qualify for other tournaments such as the World Championships , the World Pool Masters or the Mosconi Cup .

The 9-ball pool discipline is usually played on the Euro Tour . In 1997 a one-time 8-ball tournament was held in Valencia . The winner was the German Thomas Engert . For 2009 it was decided to introduce the 10-ball discipline at some tournaments (this was first used at the German Open in Sindelfingen ). Subsequently, up to 2013, 9-ball and 10-ball were played roughly equally. The Treviso Open 2013 was the eleventh and final 10-ball tournament. Since 2014 all tournaments have been played in 9-ball.
