Thomas Engert (born October 23, 1965 in Neuss ) is a German pool player .

Career

He has been a professional since February 1995 and has won the World Pool Masters twice ( 2004 and 2007 ). He is also a seven-time winner of the European Pool Billiards Championship ; four times in the 9-ball discipline ( 1989 , 1990 , 1991 , 2004 ) and three times in the 14/1 endless ( 1993 , 1994 , 2001 ). In 8-ball he is also a four-time vice European champion ( 1988 , 1993, 1994, 2000 ).

So far, he has won nine tournaments on the Euro Tour (most recently the German Open 2008 ). His best result so far at a World Cup was second place in 2006 at the 14/1 Endless World Cup . In the 8-ball World Cup 2007 , he reached at least the quarterfinals.

Engert has already represented Europe three times at the Mosconi Cup ( 2000 , 2004 and 2006 ) and is the record winner of the German championship with 20 titles .

His nickname in the billiards scene is The Lean Machine .
