Jasmin Rosalia Ouschan (born January 10, 1986 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian pool player .

Career

She made her first steps at the pool table at the age of three. Equipped with a cue and a stool, her talent showed up early on. Her first great success was the runner-up in the U18 girls' world championship in 2004. In 2005 she won the tournament and also won the European championship in 9-ball and 14/1 endless for women as well as the 7th World Games in Duisburg .

In 2006 she won two more European championships ( 8-ball and 14/1 endless) as well as a third place in the women's world championship in 9-ball and the world rankings. Also at the 2007 European Championship she defended her European title in 14/1 endlessly and was the only woman invited to the 2007 World Pool Masters , where she was eliminated in the first round. In February 2008 she became the first female player to qualify for an official 8-ball world championship for men and made it to the round of 32.

At the men's 14-and-1 World Cup in 2008 , she also qualified and was only eliminated there in the semi-finals, after having previously thrown defending champion Oliver Ortmann out of the tournament. At the EM 2008 she won a title in 8-ball as well as bronze in 9-ball and 14/1. She was also able to qualify for the first official men's 10-ball World Cup and at least survived the preliminary round there.

At the 2009 European Pool Billiards Championship , she won the title in 9-ball and 8-ball, as well as silver in 14/1 endless. At the women's 10-ball world championship, which was held for the first time in 2009 , she made it to the semi-finals. At the 8th World Games in Kaohsiung in 2009 , she confirmed her good performance from 2005 and came in second with a narrow 8: 9 defeat in the final against British Allison Fisher .

At the 2010 European Pool Billiards Championship , she won all four titles, 14 & 1 endless, 10 , 8 ball and 9 ball. Not least because of this achievement she was awarded the Golden Merit of the Republic of Austria in April 2010. In 2010 she won her first world championship with the 10-ball world championship. The EM 2011 brought again three titles; only in the 8-ball she was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

In March 2012, she was defeated by Chou Chieh-yu from Taiwan in the final of the Amway World Open . A few days later she won the 10-ball title and three bronze medals at the European Championships . She reached the quarter-finals at the 10-Ball World Cup in 2012 . In November 2012 she won the WPBA Tour Championship.

In March 2013 Ouschan moved into the final of the Amway World Open again and lost to Kelly Fisher . At the EM 2013 she won four medals again, including gold in the 14/1 endless and 9-ball disciplines. At the World Games 2013 she reached the quarter-finals. She also won two Euro Tour tournaments this year, the Portugal Open and the Swedish Open, and came second on the tour once.

In 2014 she reached the quarter-finals at the WPBA Masters. At the 2014 European Championship , she managed to defend her title in 14/1 endless and 9-ball. In the other two disciplines, however, she remained without a medal. On the Euro Tour in 2014 she came in first, second and third place each time. In February 2015 Ouschan won the WPBA Masters 2015. Two months later she was again European champion in 14/1 endless and 9-ball. In September she finished third in the Women's International Tournament of Champions. In November 2015 she made it to the final of the women's 9-ball world championship for the first time, losing to the Chinese Liu Shasha 4: 9.

At the EM 2016 , Ouschan won the titles in 14/1 endless and in 10-ball. At the Women's International Tournament of Champions, she finished third again in 2016.

Awards

In April 2010 Jasmin Ouschan was awarded the Golden Merit of the Republic of Austria . In addition, she is already six times Carinthian Sportswoman of the Year including 2015 (previously 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013). In the election for Austrian Sportswoman of the Year , Ouschan came eighth in 2008 and fifth in 2011. In 2015 she finished third behind Anna Fenninger and Claudia Riegler . In 2016 she was again among the five finalists.

family

Her father Albin Ouschan senior and her younger brother Albin junior also play pool successfully. Her brother became the 9-ball world champion in 2016 .
