The 2011 European pool championship was a pool tournament that took place from March 23 to April 3, 2011 in the Stahlpalast . For the second time, after 2006 , Brandenburg an der Havel was the venue for this event, which was organized by the European pool association EPBF . After 1980 , 1987 , 2006 and 2008 , Germany hosted the European Pool Billiards for the fifth time.

The disciplines 8-ball , 9-ball , 10-ball and 14/1 were played out endlessly in the categories men , women and wheelchair users . The wheelchair users only fought for the titles in 8-ball, 9-ball and 10-ball. 10-Ball was on the program for the second time at a European Championship. 685 players from 34 nations were represented.

The most successful player was the Austrian Jasmin Ouschan , who won in three disciplines, followed by June Tahiti from Finland with two medals. Germany took fourth place with 1 gold and 1 silver medal.

format

Initially, all categories were played in the double knockout system . This means that you can lose a game (but then you have to survive the longer way through the losers round) without leaving the tournament immediately. A second defeat led to the end of the tournament in any case. This game mode was used until there was only a certain number of players in the tournament (32 for men, 16 for women and 8 for wheelchair users). From then on it went in the knockout system (meaning: every defeat leads to immediate elimination) until the final. A game for 3rd place was not played.
