The European Pool Billiards Championship 2018 was the 40th edition of the continental championship in the pool variant pool . It took place from July 19 to 31, 2018 at the NH Hotel Koningshof in Veldhoven ( Netherlands ). After 2005, the community in North Brabant hosted the continental championship organized by the European pool association EPBF for the second time .
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the European Championship, this year, like ten years before , in addition to the categories men , women and wheelchair users , the titles of senior citizens and young people as well as the U23 age group introduced last year were played simultaneously at the same place. A total of 38 competitions in the disciplines 8-ball , 9-ball , 10-ball and 14/1 were held endlessly . With more than 500 participants from 37 countries, including 74 previous European champions, the EM was the largest billiards tournament in Europe to date.

The most successful player was the Finn Jouni Tähti , who was the first player in wheelchair users to win all three titles since the introduction of the 10-ball competition (2010). In the men was Konrad Juszczyszyn each with a gold and silver medal at the most successful in the women's Austrian Jasmin Ouschan with one gold, two silver and one bronze. Finland was the best nation with three gold medals, followed by Poland , Germany and Austria . For the Deutsche Billard-Union (DBU), the victories of Joshua Filler (10-Ball) and Veronika Ivanovskaia (8-Ball) ended their six-year series without individual European champions in the two main categories. In the overall ranking of all categories, the DBU was the most successful national association.
venue
The European Championship 2018 was held at the NH Hotel Koningshof in Veldhoven . For this purpose, 60 pool tables from Dynamic were set up in a hall of the hotel . After 2005, Veldhoven hosted the European Championship for the second time. After 1983 and 2005 it was the third European Championship in the Netherlands .
mode
All competitions were played in the double knockout system until only a certain number of participants remained and then continued in the knockout system . In the men's individual competitions, the game was played in knockout mode from the round of the last 64 (14/1 endless: round of the last 32), in the women from the sixteenth finals (10-ball: round of 16) and in the wheelchair users from the quarterfinals. The team competitions were held in the knockout system from the round of 16 (men) or semi-finals (women).
