Maximilian Lechner (born May 27, 1990 ) is an Austrian pool player .

Career

Maximilian Lechner won his first national title in the youth field in 2004. He was Austrian 8-ball champion in the tots age group and won the title in 14/1 endlessly among the students . At the European Youth Championship in 2005 he won his first European Championship medal in an individual competition with third place in the 8-ball students. In 2006 he reached the final of the 8-ball competition for students, in which, however, he lost 6-0 to the German Nico Wehner . In the same year he became Austrian student master in the disciplines 8-ball and 14/1 endless. In 2007 he was Austrian champion in 9-ball and in 2008 in 8-ball. In August 2008 he was a 7-0 win against the Russian Roman Prutschai Junior European Champion in 8-Ball. A few days later he reached the round of 32 in the 9-ball competition of the men's European championship , to which he had been nominated for the first time that year, in which he was defeated by the Englishman Darren Appleton 7: 9. In October 2008 Lechner became the Austrian men's master in the 8-ball and 14/1 endless disciplines.

At the EM 2009 , Lechner reached the round of 16 in 8-ball and 9-ball. At the Austrian championship in 2009 , he successfully defended his two titles from the previous year by winning the final against Erich Gruber and Florian Laner . At the 2010 European Championships , he reached the round of 32 in the 10-ball. In October 2010 he became Austrian champion in 9-ball and 10-ball. In 2011 he won the 9-ball title in the final against Mario He .

In 2015, five years after his last participation, Lechner was nominated again for the European Championship . There he reached the quarter-finals in 14/1, which he lost 107: 125 against Tomasz Kapłan from Poland , and the second round in 9-ball. In February 2016, he made it into the finals of a Euro Tour tournament for the first time at the Italian Open . With a 9: 6 win against Daryl Peach he finally reached the round of 16, in which he was eliminated 6: 9 against the Scot Jayson Shaw . At the EM 2016 he reached the round of 32 in 14/1 endless and in 9-ball.

In the 2008/09 Bundesliga season , Lechner was runner-up with Pool X-Press Innsbruck . In the individual rankings, he took first place with a record of 24: 4 games. In the 2009/10 season he was with the club Austrian champions, where he again achieved first place in the individual ranking. After becoming runner-up with Pool X-Press in the following three seasons, he became Austrian champion for the second time in 2014 and won the individual standings again with 24: 4 games. In the 2014/15 season he was able to successfully defend the Austrian championship title with the Innsbruck team. Subsequently, however, the club announced its Bundesliga team and from then on played in the third-class Tyrolean league. There Lechner came second with the Pool X-Press Innsbruck in the 2015/16 season, where he achieved first place in the individual ranking with 26: 2 games.

With the Austrian national team Lechner was 2015 EM -Dritter. At the team world championship he was once part of the Austrian team. In 2010 he retired with this in the preliminary round.
