Francisco Díaz-Pizarro (born May 27, 1977 ) is a Spanish pool player .
Career
In November 2001 Díaz-Pizarro won a tournament on the Joss Northeast Tour for the first time . He won his first Euro Tour medal at the Swiss Open in 2006 after losing to Tony Drago from Malta in the semi-finals . In July 2008 he won the Lugo Open. At the Costa del Sol Open 2009 he lost in the semifinals against the eventual winner of the tournament, the Englishman Mark Gray . In 2010 he lost in the finals of the Costa Blanca Open against Englishman Darren Appleton 6-8 . At the 8-ball world championship in 2012 he reached the sixteenth finals. A month later he reached the 8-ball semi-finals at the European championship , which he lost 7: 8 against the later European champion Mario He and became 9-ball European champion with a 9: 4 final victory against the Swede Marcus Chamat . At the China Open in 2012 he reached 33rd place.
After Díaz-Pizarro reached the quarter-finals in 8-ball and 10-ball at the 2013 European Championships , he lost 3:11 to Marcus Chamat in the second round of the 2013 World Games . In April 2015 he was third in 14/1 endless and second in 10-ball at the European Championships , before becoming 9-ball European champion for the second time with a 9: 5 win in the final against Karol Skowerski . At the Austrian Open 2015 he won his fourth Euro Tour medal after he was eliminated in the semifinals against Niels Feijen , the eventual winner of the tournament. In September 2015 he took part in the 9-ball world championship for the first time, in which he moved into the round of 32 after victories against Thorsten Hohmann and Dang Jinhu and was defeated there by the eventual vice world champion Shane van Boening .
Díaz-Pizarro has taken part in the World Cup of Pool four times so far . He initially formed the Spanish team together with David Alcaide . After they were eliminated in the first round in 2011 , they reached the second round in 2012 , which they lost 8-1 to the Chinese doubles ( Li Hewen and Liu Haitao ). In 2014 they were eliminated in the first round against the eventual winners of the tournament Darren Appleton and Karl Boyes . In 2015 he formed the Spanish team with Francisco Sánchez , which was eliminated again in the first round.
