David Alcaide Bermudez (born December 14, 1978 in Málaga ) is a Spanish pool player .

Career

Both 2001 and 2006 David Alcaide was able to reach the round of 16 of the 9-ball world championship . In 2007 he reached the final of the World Pool Masters , but lost to Thomas Engert . In 2009 he won a Euro Tour tournament for the first time with the Italy Open in Castel Volturno and a few months later made it to the semi-finals at the 2009 10-Ball World Cup . He achieved the same result at the 8-Ball World Cup in 2011 . He also took second place at the Treviso Open 2011 , the Italy Open 2012 and the Dutch Open 2016 .

In 2013 he made it to the second round of the 9-Ball World Cup . In February 2015 he made it to the semi-finals of the 10-Ball World Cup , in which he was defeated by Carlo Biado from the Philippines with 2:11. At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2015 , he reached the round of 16 for the fourth time, which he just lost against Wojciech Szewczyk from Poland at 10:11 .

At the 2010 European Pool Billiards Championships , he was the first Spaniard to win an European Championship for ever with his victory in discipline 14 and 1 . In 2013 he became European champion in 8-ball and in 2014 in 10-ball . At the EM 2016 he won the 10-ball title again with an 8: 7 win in the final against Petri Makkonen . In November 2016, he won a Euro Tour tournament for the second time with a 9: 6 final win over Joshua Filler with the Treviso Open . In February 2017 he became the first Spaniard to win the World Pool Masters . In the final he defeated the Scots Jayson Shaw 8: 7.

In 2006 he was the first Spaniard to represent Team Europe at the Mosconi Cup . However, he lost the decisive game for the Europeans against Corey Deuel with 2: 5, so that Team USA still managed to equalize in the overall standings, which was enough for them as defending champions.

Alcaide has been playing for Bundesliga club BSV Dachau since 2013 , with whom he became German runner- up in 2014 and 2015 and German champion in 2016 .

His nickname in the billiards scene is El Matador .
