Wojciech Szewczyk (born September 1, 1994 ) is a Polish pool player .

Career

Wojciech Szewczyk started playing billiards in 2004 . At the European Youth Championships , he won a total of ten medals in individual competitions. In 2008 he became vice European champion in 8-ball among the pupils , and in 2009 in the 8-ball and 14/1 disciplines endless . In 2010 he became European student champion in 8-ball and vice-European champion in 10-ball with a final victory against Finn Eschment . In 2011 he became, in the final against Lars Kuckherm , junior European champion in 9-ball and vice-European champion in 8-ball. He was also European champion in 2011 with the Polish junior team. In 2012 he won the bronze medals in the disciplines 14/1 endless, 10-ball and 8-ball among the juniors.

In December 2010 he won his first medal in the Polish men's championship with third place in 9-ball . In May 2012 he reached the finals at the Austria Open , when he was participating in his eighth tournament on the Euro Tour . After victories against Florian Hammer , Karlo Dalmatin , Artem Koshovyi and Nicolas Ottermann , he finally moved into the final, in which he was defeated 4: 9 to the Greek Nikos Ekonomopoulos . In 2012 he was invited to the World Pool Masters for the first time . At the tournament taking place in Kielce in October 2012 , he reached the quarter-finals after beating Ko Pin-yi , where he was eliminated from the Dutchman Nick van den Berg .

At the Polish championship in 2013 he made it to the final in the 9-ball competition for the first time, in which, however, he had to admit defeat to Marek Kudlik 7: 9. In 2014 he reached the last sixteen of the Austria Open and the quarterfinals of the Dutch Open on the Euro Tour . At the Austrian Open 2015 he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against the then 9-ball European champion Francisco Díaz-Pizarro . In September 2015, Szewczyk took part in the 9-ball world championship for the first time and made it to the quarter-finals, in which he lost 5:11 to the Taiwanese Ko Ping-chung . At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2016 , he was eliminated in the round of 64 against Ko Ping-chung. A few days later, he won his second Euro Tour medal at the Albanian Open 2016 after losing to eventual tournament winner Mateusz Śniegocki in the semifinals . At the following Euro Tour tournament, the Dutch Open 2016 , he was eliminated in the semifinals against the eventual winner, against Niels Feijen .

At the World Cup of Pool , Szewczyk has been part of the Polish team twice so far. In 2012 he reached the final together with Karol Skowerski , in which they lost 8:10 to the Finns Mika Immonen and Petri Makkonen . In 2015 he and Mateusz Śniegocki formed the Polish team that was eliminated in the round of 16 against the eventual tournament winners Ko Pin-yi and Chang Yu-Lung from Taiwan.
