Nick van den Berg (born May 24, 1980 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch pool player .

Career

His first major successes were the vice European championships in 8-ball as well as in 14 and 1 endless in 2001. So far, he has won a Euro Tour tournament nine times (2002 in Salzburg , 2005 in Sindelfingen , Czech Open 2006 in Prague , Austrian Open 2008 in Rankweil , Finland Open 2010 in Vantaa , as well as the European Open 2012 , Treviso Open 2013 , Italian Open 2014 and Treviso Open 2014 in Treviso ).

In 2005 he reached the finals of the world championship in 8-ball , but where he was defeated by Wu Chia-Ching from Taiwan . Another great success was reaching the semifinals at the 14 and 1 endless World Cup in 2008 , where he was defeated by his compatriot Niels Feijen . At the first official 10-Ball World Cup in 2008 , he reached the quarter-finals, but was then eliminated again against Feijen.

At the 2009 European Pool Billiards Championship , he won his first European title in the 9-ball discipline with a 9: 8 final victory over Ruslan Chinahov . At the World Pool Masters 2009 he took second place, only behind Darren Appleton from England.

In 2002 he won the title on his Mosconi Cup debut as part of the Europe team. In 2003 and 2006 he also took part in the Mosconi Cup for Europe, but the title went to Team America in both years. In 2010 , 2011 , 2012 and 2015 he was able to achieve four to seven victories with Team Europe.

Together with Niels Feijen , he was part of the Dutch team at the World Cup of Pool from 2006 to 2010 , although never more than one quarter-final participation ( 2009 ). After not taking part in the World Cup of Pool in 2011, he reached the second round in 2012 with Huidji See as a teammate. In 2013 and 2014 he reached the final with Niels Feijen, which was lost to the Philippines and England respectively.

In summer 2013 he moved from Club 8 Amsterdam to BV Fortuna Straubing in the 1st Bundesliga .

His preferred brand of cue is Musashi . His nickname in the billiards scene is El Nino .
