World Cup of Pool
The World Cup of Pool is a pool tournament in the 9-ball discipline organized by Matchroom Sport , which has been held annually since 2006. It is a national tournament in which each participating country is represented by a team of two players. The venue for the first edition was Newport , Wales and moved to Rotterdam in the Netherlands in 2007 . From 2009 to 2012 Manila was the venue. The World Cup of Pool has been held in England since 2013.
Record winners are the Philippines , who won the tournament in 2006 , 2009 and 2013 .
regulate
32 teams from 31 countries have taken part in each of the previous tournaments ( England provided two teams in 2006 ; the Netherlands in 2007 and 2008 , the Philippines from 2009 to 2012 and England again since 2013 - both as the host nation).
The game is played in Scotch Doubles mode with a winner break. This means that the team that won the previous game has the right to kick-off.
Since 2007 the game has been played up to the quarter-finals until a team has won eight games ( racks ), in the semifinals the number of wins required was increased to nine and in the final to eleven. In 2006, however, the game was played up to nine in the semifinals and thirteen in the final.
Furthermore, a so-called shot clock is used, which does not allow the players to wait longer than 40 seconds with their shot. However, you have the option to announce an extension once per rack, which gives you another 40 seconds more time for the push.
The 2013 World Cup of Pool was held at York Hall in London . For the first time in years, pool billiards was broadcast live on German television ( Sport1 ), commented by national pool coach Andreas Huber .
