Skyler Woodward (born May 7, 1993 in Paducah , Kentucky ) is an American pool player .

Career

singles

Woodward began playing pool when he was ten . Four years later he was seventh in a tournament on the Midwest 9-Ball Tour. In January 2012 he came in 22nd place in the 9-ball competition of the Derby City Classics . In November 2012, he finished fourth in a tournament on the Midwest 9-Ball Tour. At the Derby City Classic 2013 he reached fourth place in the bank pool competition and 34th place in 9-ball. In June 2013 he made it to the finals at the bank pool tournament of the Southern Classic , which he lost to Alex Pagulayan . Three months later he achieved his first tournament victory on the Midwest 9-Ball Tour.

At the Derby City Classic 2014 he won the Bank Pool Ring Game against Francisco Bustamante . In March 2014, he finished third in 9-ball and fifth in 8-ball at the US Bar Box Championship . He also won the Big Tyme Classic, the Smokin Aces Bar Box 9-Ball Open and the one tournament on the Midwest 9-Ball Tour in 2014 . In the final of the Carom Room Classic 2014, however, he lost to Justin Bergman 4: 9.

At the Derby City Classic 2015 , Woodward finished sixth in the 9-ball competition. Three weeks later he moved to the 10-ball final of the US Bar Box Championship, where he lost to Jeffrey Ignacio from the Philippines . In April 2015 he won the Carom Room Spring Classic in the final against Shane van Boening . After finishing seventh in 8-ball at the US Open and thirteenth at the 24th Turning Stone Casino Classic , he won the Texas Open in September 2015 by beating Charlie Bryant (6-9 and 9-6) in the final . In October 2015 he finished third at the Cheesehead Classic and came 25th at the US Open in 9-ball .

In early 2016, Woodward won the Music City Classic, the Texas 10-Ball Championship and the Chinook Winds Open in 8-Ball. He finished fourth in the 2016 US Open 10-Ball Championship. In July 2016 he took part in the 9-ball world championship for the first time. After an opening defeat against Oliver Ortmann , he defeated Omran Salem 9-3 before he was eliminated in the preliminary round after a 5-9 defeat against Wojciech Szewczyk . A few weeks later he reached the final of the US Bar Box Championship again in 10-Ball and lost there to Justin Bergman. At the Texas Open 2016 he made it to the final as defending champion, in which he had to admit defeat to the Canadian John Morra 5: 9 and 5: 9. In addition, he finished second in the 4-Bears 8-Ball Classic in 2016 and won the Chinook Winds Open in 10-Ball.

In 2015 Woodward was nominated for the Mosconi Cup for the first time . At 22 years and seven months he was the youngest player to have played in the American Mosconi Cup team. He replaced Corey Deuel , who was 23 years old when he first participated ( 2000 ). Woodward was used a total of six times. In the 18th game of the tournament he was defeated by the Austrian Albin Ouschan 4-5, which meant that the European team secured victory. In 2016 the USA lost 3:11. In doubles with Justin Bergman , Woodward won one of the three points for the USA.
