John Morra (born May 25, 1989 ) is a Canadian pool player .
Career
At the end of 2004 Morra, son of snooker and pool player Mario Morra , won two tournaments on the Canadian 10K Tour, and in 2005 he finished second in a tournament on the Joss Northeast Tour. In 2006 he reached 25th place in 9-ball at the Derby City Classic , in 2007 he finished 17th in 9-ball and 18th in bank pool. In February 2007 Morra reached the 13th place at the BCA Open. At the World Summit of Pool he was ninth, at the US Open he came in 17th place. At the 9-ball world championship , he was eliminated without a win in the preliminary round. In 2007 he also won three tournaments on the Canadian 9-Ball Tour, one tournament on the Canadian 30K Tour and came second twice on the Joss Northeast Tour. In 2008 Morra finished third in the US Bar Table Championship in 9-ball and ninth in the Super Billiards Expo. At the Derby City Classic 2009 he finished ninth in 9-ball, at the World Summit of Pool he was seventh and at the US 10-Ball Invitational he finished 14th.
In April 2010 Morra reached the sixteenth finals at the 8-ball World Cup , at the World Pool Masters he was defeated in the quarter-finals by the eventual winner Dennis Orcollo , at the 9-ball World Championship he was eliminated in July in the round of 64 against the eventual runner-up -World Champion Kuo Po-Cheng with 9:11. In September he finished ninth in the Predator International Championship . In 2011 Morra won the US Bar Table Championship 2011 in 8-Ball, finished second in 10-Ball and was eliminated without a win in the preliminary round of the 9-Ball World Cup . In January 2012 Morra won the Derby City Classic in the Bank Pool and came second in the Master-of-the-Table classification behind Shane van Boening . In April he finished third in the West Coast Challenge and ninth in the US Open 10-ball. In June he reached the sixteenth finals of the 9-ball World Cup and was defeated there by the later Vice World Champion Li Hewen with 8:11. At the Southern Classic 2012 he finished fifth in 9-ball.
In March 2013, Morra finished fifth in 9-ball at the US Bar Box Championship, in July he won the Canadian Cue Sports Championship in 9-ball and 10-ball and was ninth at the US Open 10-ball. At the 9-ball World Cup , he reached the round of 32, which he lost to Dennis Orcollo. At the All Japan Open 2013 he was eliminated in the round of 16 at 10:11 against Mika Immonen . At the Derby City Classic 2014 , Morra lost the 9-ball final against Shane van Boening and finished fifth in the 10-ball challenge. At the US Bar Box Championship he was fifth in 10-ball and he won the Canadian Cue Sports Championship in 8-ball. At the China Open 2014 Morra was eliminated in the round of 16 against Jeffrey Ignacio . At the 9-Ball World Cup , Morra was eliminated without a win in the preliminary round. In September 2014 he and Thorsten Hohmann finished second at the Manny Pacquiao Cup 10-Ball Doubles Championships, and in October he finished 17th at the US Open .
In January 2015 he managed to reach the final at the Turning Stone Casino Classic , which he lost to Jayson Shaw at 11:13 . A month later he was eliminated from the 10-Ball World Cup in the round of 64. In March, he won the Canadian Championship in 8-ball, 9-ball, and 10-ball. At the China Open 2015 he reached the finals and lost to the Austrian Albin Ouschan . In August he took part in the World Pool Masters for the second time and lost in the round of 16 against Shane van Boening, the eventual winner of the tournament. In September 2015 he made it to the quarter-finals of the 9-ball World Cup and was defeated by the eventual world champion Ko Pin-yi .
Morra has participated in the World Cup of Pool five times so far . In 2010 and 2011 he formed the Canadian team with Jason Klatt, which reached the round of 16 in 2011, in 2012 , 2013 and 2014 he formed doubles with Alex Pagulayan and reached the round of 16 in 2012 and 2014.
In 2012, Morra was part of the Canadian team that reached the quarter-finals of the Team World Cup .
