The US Open 2014 (officially: US Open 9-Ball Championship 2014 ) was the 39th edition of the US Open in the pool 9-ball discipline . They took place October 12-18 , 2014 at the Marriott Chesapeake in Chesapeake , Virginia , USA .

The winner of the tournament was the American Shane van Boening with a 13:10 final victory over the Filipino Dennis Orcollo . Van Boening won the tournament for the fourth time after 2007 , 2012 and 2013 . He is also the only player to date who has managed to win the US Open three times in a row. The Greek Nikos Ekonomopoulos took third place. Thorsten Hohmann was the best German ninth.

A total of US $ 178,000 in prize money was distributed. The winner received $ 24,000 of this.

mode

The tournament was played in a double knockout system . This means that a player is only eliminated from the tournament after the second defeat. In the preliminary round, the game was played until one of the two players had won 11 games (so-called racks ); the final was played until 13. The player who scored the point in the previous rack (winner break) always started.
