Waleed Majid (born September 22, 1987 ) is a Qatari pool player .

Career

singles

In 2009 Majid won the Joker Club Championship in Kuwait . At the 9-Ball World Championship in his hometown of Doha in 2010 , he was eliminated without a win after defeats to Scott Higgins and Marlon Manalo . A year later he won the opening game against Tomasz Kapłan , but then narrowly missed the final round with defeats to Thorsten Hohmann (4: 9) and Hunter Lombardo (8: 9). At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2012 , he was eliminated again in the preliminary round. In the same year he won the Qatar Ramadan Open and the Arab championship . In addition, he finished fifth at the UAE Open in 2012 and seventeenth at the China Open . At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2013 , he was eliminated in the preliminary round.

In 2014 he finished third at the Dubai Open. In June 2014, he made it into the final round for the first time at the 9-ball world championship by winning against Detlef Grzella and Fabio Petroni . He then defeated Lee Van Corteza and the former world champion Darren Appleton , before losing 8:11 to the Philippine Johann Chua in the round of 16 . He finished seventeenth at the 2014 US Open . A month later he retired from the World Pool Masters , to which he was invited for the first time that year, in the round of 16 against Karl Boyes . At the All Japan Championship 2014 he reached the round of 32. In 2014 he also won the Stanway Championship in the USA .

At the beginning of 2015 Majid reached the round of 16 of the Chinese 8-Ball World Championship and was only narrowly defeated by the Chinese Liu Haitao by 12:13. A little later, however, he retired from the 10-ball world championship in the preliminary round. At the World Pool Masters 2015 he reached the quarterfinals with a win against Jayson Shaw , in which he was eliminated 5-8 against eventual tournament winner Shane van Boening . At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2015 , he was eliminated in the preliminary round. In the same year he won the New Jersey Championship and the West Asian Championship in the 9-ball discipline . In 2016 he was eliminated from the preliminary round of the 9-Ball World Cup and the Kuwait Open .

Majid has participated twice in the World Cup of Pool and formed the Qatari team with Bashar Hussain . In 2014 they were eliminated in the round of 16 against the Austrians Albin Ouschan and Mario He . In 2015 , after defeating the American team ( Shane van Boening and Mike Dechaine ), they reached the quarter-finals, in which they were defeated by the Japanese Naoyuki Ōi and Tōru Kuribayashi .
