Tōru Kuribayashi ( Japanese 栗林 達 , Kuribayashi Tōru ; born June 26, 1982 ) is a Japanese pool player .

Career

In November 2007 Tōru reached the final of the All Japan Open , but lost it against Wu Jiaqing . In 2008 he came in 25th place at the US Open . At the All Japan Open in 2008 he was only seventeenth. After Tōru had reached the quarter-finals of the China Open in June 2009 , he was eliminated in the preliminary round of the 10-Ball World Cup in September.

In 2010 Tōru was third at the All Japan Open. At the World Pool Masters 2010 , after defeating Daryl Peach and Oliver Ortmann , among others , he reached the final, which he lost to Dennis Orcollo 3: 8 . At the 9-Ball World Cup of the same year he was defeated by the German Christian Reimering in the round of 32 . At the 9-Ball World Championship 2011 Tōru Kuribayashi reached the quarter-finals, but lost it against Ronato Alcano at 10:11. At the All Japan Open he was also eliminated in the quarterfinals.

In 2012, Tōru reached the round of 32 at the 8-ball World Championship , which he lost 9-1 to Carlo Biado . At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2012 , he was eliminated in the round of 32 against New Zealander Matthew Edwards . At the 9-Ball World Cup 2013 Tōru lost in the round of 64 with 10:11 against the eventual world champion Thorsten Hohmann . In 2014 he reached the round of 16, which he lost 5:11 to Shane van Boening . At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2015 , he was eliminated in the round of 64 against Wang Can . In November 2015 he reached the round of 32 at the Japan Open .

Tōru Kuribayashi has so far twice participated in the World Cup of Pool , where he formed the Japanese team with Naoyuki Ōi . After they were eliminated in the round of 16 in 2010 , they reached the semi-finals in 2015 , in which they lost to England's Mark Gray and Daryl Peach.

With the Japanese national team, Tōru was runner-up in 2012 .
