Thorsten Hohmann (born July 14, 1979 in Fulda ) is a German pool player .

Hohmann achieved his first major success in 2000 when he reached the quarter-finals of the world championship in 8-ball . In 2003 he made his breakthrough to the top of the world by winning the 9-ball world championship. In addition, in 2003 he won the German championship in 14 and 1 endless , with the team and in mixed, and came second in the World Pool League .

In 2004 there was a European title in 8-ball , a second place at the US Open in 9-ball and other German championships (in 9-ball singles and in a team ).

In 2005 Hohmann won silver at the World Games in Duisburg . There was also another European title, this time in 14 and 1 endless, and victories at the BCA Open 9-Ball Championships, Sudden Death 7-Ball and the World Pool League . After all, he reached the quarter-finals of the 9-ball World Cup.

He turned pro in 2006 and has lived in Jacksonville , Florida ever since . This year, Hohmann secured first place in the world rankings , among other things by winning the first official 14th and 1 endless World Championships , as well as the most highly endowed pool tournament of all time, the IPT North American Open in Las Vegas.

He won his first European title in 9-ball in 2007 . At the 14 and 1 endless World Cups in 2007 , he made it to the quarter-finals this time, but then dropped out. In 2009 he just missed his second medal at the 8th World Games in Kaohsiung, finishing fourth. In August 2013 he won the 14/1 endless world championship against the Englishman Darren Appleton. At the 2015 14/1 Endless World Championship , he again won the final against Appleton.

Hohmann has represented Europe three times at the Mosconi Cup ( 2003 , 2005 and 2009 ). At the World Cup of Pool 2009 he reached the final together with Ralf Souquet as Team Germany, in which the two were defeated by the Filipino duo Reyes / Bustamante with 9:11.

Since 2006 he has been playing a Lucasi cue with a Universal Smart Shaft. His break cue is also from the Lucasi brand. His nickname in the pool scene is The Hitman or Toasti .
