Efren Reyes (born August 26, 1954 in Angeles City ) is a Filipino pool player with a particularly active time in the years from 1995 to 2010 (with more than 2 special successes per year).

Career

His first major success was winning the US Open 9-ball in 1994 as the first non-American player ever. In 1999, he won the second World 9-Ball Championship held that year.

He has been a member of the Hall of Fame of the Billiard Congress of America since 2003 . Another great success of his sporting career was winning the first official 8-ball world championship in 2004.

Overall, Reyes has won over 60 tournaments in his career, such as the World Pool League 2001 & 2002, the Las Vegas 9-Ball Open (2003) or the Derby City Classic in 9-Ball (2005). Together with Francisco Bustamante , he won the first World Cup of Pool in 2006 by beating Team USA in the final. In 2009 the two were able to repeat this victory - this time in the final against Team Germany.

Others

Aside from pool, Reyes is also a good carom player in both bindings and three-cushion . However, he lost an exhibition match against the multiple world champion Torbjörn Blomdahl in Japan in 2007 with 5: 9 ( 9-ball ) and 20:30 (three-cushion, 20 shots, GD 1,500). At the Southeast Asian Games he won a total of six bronze medals in the disciplines of binding ( 2003 , 2011 , 2013 , 2015 ), three-cushion (2011) and 9-ball (2003).

He also participated in 1991 at the Snooker -Amateurweltmeisterschaft part.
