The Billiard Congress of America ( BCA for short ) is the North American umbrella organization for all areas of pool . The association, founded in 1948, is subordinate to the World Pool Billiard Association (WPA), the world association for pool billiards.

history

The association, founded with the participation of players such as Willie Mosconi and Willie Hoppe , had set itself the goal of organizing and promoting the players through qualified tournaments at local, regional and national level in straight pool and three-cushion (the most popular competitive disciplines of this era). The organizers were also determined to issue an official rulebook to standardize the sport.

During the first thirty-two years of existence as the BCA, the organization had various addresses, including in Toledo , Ohio and Chicago. In 1980 they opened their headquarters in Iowa City , Iowa, and relocated to Coralville , Indiana for a short time in 1997 . In 2000, the BCA moved to its current headquarters in Colorado Springs.

The main task of the BCA today is the organization of leagues and tournaments and the establishment of rules for local disciplines that are not set by the WPA.

Hall of Fame

In 1966, the BCA established its Hall of Fame , which will accept selected billiards players and people who have contributed greatly to the development and popularization of billiards.
