Albrecht Ehrenberg

Albrecht Ehrenberg (born April 5, 1877 , † June 14, 1964 ) was a German, naval engineer, senior naval construction officer and professor of shipbuilding.

Life

After completing his studies in warship construction at the Technical University Berlin-Charlottenburg , Ehrenberg entered the career of senior naval construction officials, passed his second state examination after three years of training at the Kaiserliche Werft Kiel and became a naval builder in 1905. During the First World War he was responsible for ships of the line and cruisers in Kiel, later for torpedo boats in Wilhelmshaven and was involved in building new submarines at the shipyard in Danzig . In 1924 he came to Berlin, where he worked on the design for the new buildings granted in the Versailles Treaty, such as the Königsberg class , the Torpepedo boats in 1923 and 1924 and the experimental speedboat K (UZ (S) 12) based on a Thornycroft design.

In 1927 Ehrenberg was appointed professor at the TH Berlin-Charlottenburg. His lectures on the construction and equipment of surface and underwater warships, as well as his lectures on shipyards, radiated extensive experience in warship construction. In this way he was able to impart a wealth of experience to the German shipbuilding youngsters. After the collapse in 1945, Ehrenberg had worked on the reorganization of the badly damaged Technical University.

In 1958 the Technical University of Berlin awarded him the academic title of Honorary Senator. Albrecht Ehrenberg died on June 14, 1964 at the age of 87. Since 1962 he wore the golden badge of honor of the Shipbuilding Society .
