The Koninklijke Nederlandse Biljartbond (German: Royal Dutch Billiards Association) (KNBB) is the national umbrella organization for billiards in the Netherlands.
history
The KNBB was founded on January 11, 1911 (other sources say January 22) as a pure collision association under the name "Nederlandse Biljart Bond" (NBB), chaired by DE Lioni. The pool and snooker sections were added later. The following associations were founding members:
- BV Amsterdam
- Groninger Biljartclub (GBC)
- de Fresh Club Leeuwarden
- Nijmeegsche Biljartclub
- Gravenhaagsche Biljart Club
- BV KRAS
In 1913 the first official Dutch championship took place in "Musik Sacrum" in Arnhem . This was not organized in the free game , but in cadre 45/2. The organization of this championship was in the hands of the "Arnhemschen Biljart Vereeniging". Tealights were placed under the pool table to heat the slate and thereby reduce the humidity in the pool cloth . The winner was Henk Robijns , who became the first prominent player in the Netherlands and won this title a total of seven times by 1928. The first internationally known player, however, was Arie Bos , who won the World Cup title in Paris in 1921. Other internationally successful players at this time were Jan Wiemers and Jan Dommering . It was followed by Piet van de Pol who won his first Dutch championship in 1932.
In 1924 the NBB became part of the Union Internationale des Fédérations des Amateurs de Billard (UIFAB). On September 15, 1951, the association became royal and has been called "Koninklijke Nederlandse Biljartbond" since then.
The KNBB is a member of the European umbrella organization Confédération Européenne de Billard (CEB), the world association Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) and the National Olympic Committee (NOC * NSF).
tasks
The KNBB is responsible for the national handling and organization of various tasks. So it is possible for every affiliated member and association to use the KNBB's own premises and accommodation free of charge, including those of the Verenigingsondersteuning / BCZ bondsbureau , the Federal Office for Civil Aviation. The association provides an internet service and maintains various member websites with news, competitions and images. He has developed his own software for competitions, which is available for the three-cushion , pool and snooker sections . He takes care of membership administration, competition organization and organization of national championships.
The KNBB is particularly concerned with disabled sports (wheelchair billiards) as well as promoting young people and talent. He sends and guides top athletes from various disciplines to European championships, world championships and qualifying tournaments and promotes billiards in a variety of ways by sending press releases, maintaining press contacts, negotiating NOS broadcasts and developing Biljart.tv. In addition, the KNBB organizes various international events every year, develops various advertising materials as well as lecture packages and the "Open House". He also offers the training of trainers, referees and competition managers.
