The Billard Sportverband Österreich (BSVÖ) is the professional association for billiards in Austria .

history

The Austrian Amateur Billiards Association (ÖABV) was founded in 1931 at the suggestion of Oskar Zimmermann and Karl Hörig. The later technical inspector Ernst Reicher played a key role in building the association. The following eleven founding associations came from Vienna , Salzburg , Lower Austria and Styria :

  • Club of Wiener Billardfreunde in Café Splendid (that was also the first association seat)
  • Billiard Club City in Café Haag und Ganauser
  • Mödling billiards club in Café Schneider
  • BSK Vienna in Café Epp
  • Billiard Club Progress in Café Lang
  • Club of Billiard Friends in the Café Beethoven
  • First Baden billiards and chess club in Café Schwanke
  • Club of Baden's Billiard Friends in Café Schopf
  • Gersthof billiard club in Café Gersthof
  • Graz billiard club in Café Rosegger
  • Salzburg billiard club in Café Krimml

The first president was Fritz Spielmann, Ernst Reicher Secretary and Dr. Candlemas sports attendant. He also represented the new association vis-à-vis the international body of the UIFAB (Union Internationale des Fédérations d'Amateurs de Billard) when the ÖABV was accepted in the course of the 9th General Assembly.

In 1937 the headquarters of the association was moved to the Café Palace . Between 1938 and 1945, Austrian billiards was organized in area 17 of the German Amateur Billiards Association (DABB). Prof. Franz was the department manager. After the end of the war in 1946, the association became independent again and Ludwig Petricek was appointed president. Swell:

Association magazine

The BSVÖ published the association newspaper "Carambol" as the official organ. She informed the members about association news, tournament announcements, results and news from around the world. In October 1984 the 200th edition of the newspaper appeared. In 1990 "Carambol" merged with Heinrich Weingartner's " billard " magazine , which now functions as the official organ of the BSVÖ.
