Marlon Manalo (born November 27, 1975 in Mandaluyong City ) is a Filipino pool and snooker player . He was Asian snooker champion in 2000 and 8-ball world runner-up in 2004 .

Career

Pool

After Manalo was eliminated in the sixteenth finals at the 2003 9-ball World Cup , he made it to the quarter-finals in 2004 . At the World Pool Masters 2004 he lost in the round of 16 against the German Thorsten Hohmann . At the 8-Ball World Cup , he was runner -up in the final against his fellow countryman Efren Reyes . In 2005 he reached the semi-finals at the 9-ball World Cup . At the World Pool Masters , however, he was eliminated again in the round of 16, this time against the Czech Roman Hybler . He finished the US Open in 65th place. At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2006 he reached the round of 32. In March 2007 he won his only medal on the Euro Tour after losing to the Russian Konstantin Stepanow in the semifinals of the Czech Open . At the Predator 10-Ball Championship, he finished 17th. The 9-ball World Cup 2007 ended for him after a defeat against Poland's Radosław Babica in the round of 64. In December 2007 he won the gold medal in 9-ball doubles at the Southeast Asian Games together with Antonio Gabica . He also won the 2007 Kabayan World 9-Ball Challenge.

At the 10-Ball World Cup in 2008 Manalo lost in the round of 16 against Niels Feijen from the Netherlands . In 2009 he reached the 33rd place at the China Open and 17th place at the US Open. At the 10-Ball World Cup , he lost in the round of sixteen against eventual world champion Mika Immonen . In 2010 he was eliminated from the 8-ball World Cup in the sixteenth finals, at the 9-ball World Cup in the round of 16 against his compatriot Francisco Bustamante . At the China Open he reached 9th place. At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2013 , he was eliminated in the round of 32.

At the 2010 World Team , Manalo was runner-up with the Filipino team. In the final she was defeated by the United Kingdom 1: 4.

After Manalo was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup in 1994 , he reached the semi-finals of the U21 World Cup in August 1995 and was defeated there by the eventual world champion Alan Burnett . Two years later he lost the final of the Asian Cup 6: 8 against Anurat Wongjan from Thailand . In 2000 he was Asian champions by an 8: 6 win in the final against Noppadol Sangnil and reached the quarterfinals of the Amateur World Cup , in which he lost to Shaun Murphy . At the 2001 Asian Cup, he was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Yasin Merchant . At the World Games 2001 he made it to the finals, in which he was defeated 3: 4 by the Belgian Björn Haneveer .
