Mandaluyong (officially: City of Mandaluyong ; Filipino : Lungsod ng Mandaluyong , nickname: Tiger City ) is a Philippine metropolis in Metro Manila . The city is located on the main island of Luzón , near the capital Manila . Mandaluyong had a population of 386,276 as of August 1, 2015.
Mandaluyong is best known for its women's prison and the National Center for Mental Health.
Overall, Mandaluyong has a rather small town character in large parts, despite the enormous population density of more than 27,000 people per square kilometer.
The SM Megamall in Mandaluyong, one of the largest shopping centers in Asia, is of national importance. The Jose Rizal University and Arellano University are important educational institution in the city.
