The Arellano University (AU) ( Filipino : Pamantasang Arellano ) is a state university in the Philippines . It is considered a major educational institution in the Philippines and the Metro Manila administrative regions . The university was named in honor of Cayetano Arellano .

Locations

It has seven locations in the following municipalities:

  • the main campus of the university is located at 2600 Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard in Barangay Sampaloc, Manila
  • the AU Juan Sumulong campus in Barangay Legarda in Manila
  • the AU Jose Abad Santos campus in Pasay City
  • the AU Apolinario Mabini Campus in Pasay City
  • the AU Andres Bonifacio Campus in Pasig City
  • the AU Plaridel campus in Mandaluyong City
  • the AU Elisa Esguerra Campus in Malabon City

Faculties

The Arellano University houses various faculties , these are divided into university and technical school areas, as well as in the professional training in institutes and colleges . These are the Graduate School of Education, Graduate School of Nursing, Graduate School of Business, Law, Accountancy, Allied Medical Services, Arts & Sciences, Business & Commerce, Computer Science, Education, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing, International Programs and Radiologic Technology.

history

The forerunner of the university was created in 1938 when the Arellano Law College opened. It was created on the initiative of Florentino Cayco Sr. From December 1941 to March 1945 it had to close due to the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during the Second World War . The college developed rapidly, initially offering two-year courses for general university entrance qualifications and the Bachelor of Laws . In 1947 further courses were offered to obtain the Bachelor of Science in Education and the Elementary Teachers Certificate. On February 22, 1947, the college was granted university status. In 1954 the first courses in nursing training were offered and in 1960 the School of Nursing was opened, which later became its own college. In 1978 the Florentino Cayco Memorial School of Graduate Studies was opened and named after the founder of the university. At the university, the Master of Business Administration, Master of Science and Economics and Master of Arts in Nursing could be obtained.

Sports

The university has a total of 24 sports teams in the disciplines of basketball , volleyball , chess , taekwondo , badminton and triathlon . These teams are all known as AU Chiefs. The basketball team was able to win the Philippine championships and the Fr. Martins Cup and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan Basketball Cup in 2006 and 2007. The chess team is listed in second place.
