The University of the Philippines ( English University of the Philippines ) or UP is the state university of the Philippines . It was founded in 1908. It now has seventeen campuses across the country. The administration is located in Quezon City . It offers almost every university subject, from agricultural sciences , medicine and law to natural and social sciences , engineering , literature and art.
More than 70,000 high school students across the Philippines take the annual entrance exams in their senior year. Less than 10 percent of them are recorded. The tuition fees are staggered depending on the family income. For families with very low incomes z. T. Scholarships awarded.
UP is also known for its highly politicized students. A significant proportion of political or social leaders, economists, lawyers, scientists, doctors, creative people and entrepreneurs in the Philippines are UP graduates.
The university was a center of the First Quarter Storm Movement from January to March 1970.
