Leyte Normal University

The Normal University Leyte (LNU) is a state university in the Philippines , in the administrative region of Eastern Visayas is considered important educational institution. In the second semester of 2011, 6,471 students enrolled at the university. The university is based on Paterno Street in Tacloban City , Leyte Province .

Faculties

The Leyte Normal University houses three different faculties , these are divided into university and technical college areas, as well as colleges for vocational training . These are the College of Education, College of Arts and Science and the College of Management and Entrepreneurship. These offer numerous Bachelor , Master and Doctor-graduate programs.

history

The university's history began in 1921 when Provincial Normal School opened as an extension of Leyte High School. In 1938 and 1952, the first two- and four-year courses at college level were opened and the name was changed to Leyte Normal School. On June 14, 1976, the school was given college status and Leyte State College was established. On February 23, 1995, the college was granted university status and Leyte Normal University was established. From 1996 to 2001 the university was awarded the additional title Center of Excellence in Teacher Education, which it received again from 2008 to 2011.
