Aklan State University

The Aklan State University (ASU) is located in the province of Aklan in the Philippines . It is a state university and is considered an important educational institution in the administrative region of the Western Visayas . In the second semester of 2011, 8,272 students enrolled at the university.

Locations

The university is divided into five locations in the municipalities :

  • The Aklan State University headquarters are located on Pili Avenue in Banga
  • College of Industrial Technology, Campus in Kalibo
  • College of Hospitality and Rural Resource Management, Ibajay campus
  • College Teacher Education Center, Makato campus
  • College of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, New Washington campus

Faculties

The West Visayas State University houses various faculties , these are divided into higher education and technical schools, as well as colleges for vocational training . These are Colleges of Agriculture, Forestry and Environmental Sciences, Arts and Sciences, School of Extension and Community Services, Information and Communication Technology Center, Graduate School, Research Development Services, Teacher Education, College of Veterinary Medicine, School of Management Sciences and above Colleges distributed over the individual campuses.

history

The university's history began in 1917 when the Banga Intermediate School opened. In the following years the school was expanded in the training programs, so that in June 1918 the school was renamed the Capiz Farm School. In 1928 the school was expanded so that the school received a high school section and was renamed Banga Rural High School. In 1963 the status of the school was increased and the Aklan Agricultural College opened. In 1966 the first academic courses were offered to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. In 1992 the status of the college was increased by converting it into the Aklan State College of Agriculture. In 1999 the four educational institutions of the Roxas Memorial College of Arts and Trades (RMCAT) in Kalibo, the Aklan National College of Fisheries (ANCF) in New Washington, the Northern Panay Teachers College (NPTC) in Makato and the Western Aklan Polytechnic College (WAPC ) integrated in Ibajay into the organizational structure of the State College. On October 4, 2001, the college was given university status, based on Republic Law 9055.
