The University of the East (UE), ( Filipino : Pamantasan ng Silangan, Lungsod ng Maynila ) is a private university in the Philippines . It is considered a major educational institution in the Philippines and the Metro Manila administrative regions .
Locations
It has three locations in the metro Manila metropolitan area:
- the main campus of the university is located on Claro M. Recto Avenue in Barangay Sampaloc, Manila
- the UE Caloocan Campus is located on Samson Road in Caloocan City
- the UE East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center is located on Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City
Faculties
The University of the East houses various faculties , these are divided into higher education and technical school areas, as well as in professional training in institutes and colleges . These are the Graduate School, College of Law, College of Dentistry, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business Administration, College of Computer Studies and Systems, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Fine Arts, Architecture and Design and the College of Department of Physical Education.
history
The forerunner of the university was created in 1946 when 110 students joined the group led by Dr. Francisco T. Dalupan Sr. enrolled for Certified Public Accountant training. In the following year, today's main campus on Claro M. Recto Avenue could be moved into. On July 3, 1951, the educational institute was given university status. This enabled the Law, Medicine and Engineering Colleges and the Graduate School of Education to open by the summer of 1954. In the 1960s the satellite campuses were set up in Caloocan and Quezon. In early 1970, the university played a significant role in the First Quarter Storm student movement . The university had the highest number of enrolled students in the 1975-1976 semester with 67,443 students. At the beginning of the 1980s, the global economic crisis also saw a decline in enrollments. The university encountered the one in which it created the Institute for Computer Studies and Systems in 1987, now the College of Computer Studies and Systems. Today, three of the university's colleges have Level II status, awarded by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). These are the Colleges of Arts and Sciences-Manila, College of Business Administration-Manila and the College of Dentistry.
