The Jose Rizal University is a private university in the municipality of Mandaluyong City , in the center of Metro Manila in the Philippines .

The university is located on Shaw Boulevard in Barangay Daang Bakal.

José Rizal University has two faculties, the College of Law and the Graduate School. The university also has an elementary school, a high school and a college division.

history

The university's history begins in 1919 when the Far Eastern College was opened as a private educational institution by Don Vicente Fabella. In 1922 the college was renamed José Rizal College in honor of the Filipino national hero José Rizal . The college originally only offered higher education, but has opened up to other educational programs over time. In 1933, Ramon Magsaysay , who later became the seventh president of the Philippines, received a bachelor's degree from college. On October 2, 2000, the College was awarded university status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Sports

The university has its own basketball team , the José Rizal University Bombers, or just The Bombers . She was able to win the Philippine championships in 1949 and 1961.
