Central Mindanao University
The Central Mindanao University (CMU) is located in the province of Bukidnon in the Philippines . It is considered a major educational institution in the Northern Mindanao administrative region . The university has a location that covers a total area of approximately 30.8 km². The university is an internationally renowned research institute in the fields of agriculture and forestry . It is considered to be one of the three central universities in the Philippines in both research and training areas; the other two are Visayas State University (VSU) and Central Luzon State University (CLSU).
The university has a campus and it is located in the Maramag community , near the Musuan volcano . 9,014 students enrolled at the university in the second semester of 2011. The university's teaching and administrative staff comprises around 900 people.
Faculties
The Central Mindanao University houses nine different faculties , these are divided into higher education and technical schools, as well as colleges for vocational training . There are also general education schools in the university's organizational system. These are College of Agriculture, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Commerce and Accountancy, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Forestry, College of Home Economics, College of Nursing and the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine.
history
The university's history began in 1910 when the Mailag Industrial School opened in Malaybalay . This was renamed the Bukidnon Agricultural School in 1918. In 1923 the status of the school was increased and the Bukidnon Rural High School opened, which was awarded an area of 7.24 km² for field tests. In 1928 the school was renamed the Bukidnon Agricultural High School and in 1938 this educational institution was opened for the education of women. After the Second World War the school was moved to Maramag. On June 21, 1952, the school was transferred to the Mindanao Agricultural College (MAC). In 1958, on the advice of the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the area for field tests was expanded to 34 km². On June 19, 1965, the college finally received university status and Central Mindanao University was able to open. In 1974 the area of the university was reduced to 30.8 km².
