West Visayas State University
The West Visayas State University (WVSU) is located in the province of Iloilo on the Philippines . It is considered an important educational institution in the administrative region of the Western Visayas . In the second semester of 2011, 17,121 students enrolled at the university.
Locations
The university is divided into seven locations in the municipalities :
- West Visayas State University (Headquarters) Luna Street, Barangay La Paz, Iloilo City
- College of Agriculture and Forestry Campus, Lambunao
- WVSU, Calinog Campus
- WVSU, Janiuay Campus
- WVSU- Lambunao Campus
- WVSU- Pototan Campus
- WVSU- Himamaylan City , Negros Occidental is a so-called Extension Campus
Faculties
The West Visayas State University houses eight different faculties , these are divided into higher education and technical school areas, as well as in vocational training in colleges . These are College of Business & Management, Institute of ICT, College of PESCAR, College of Nursing, College of Mass Communication, College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Medicine.
history
The university's history began in 1902 when the Tributary Normal School opened. In the following years, the school was expanded more and more in the training programs. In 1924 the current main building, Quezon Hall, was inaugurated. In 1954 the first four-year nurse training began. In 1965, Republic Law 4189 upgraded the school and established West Visayas State College. In 1986 the college was transferred to university status. The basis for this was the Republic Act 2019.
