University of the Visayas
The University of the Visayas is located in the Province of Cebu in the Philippines . It is considered a major educational institution in the Central Visayas administrative region .
Locations
The university is divided into eight locations :
- University of the Visayas (Headquarters), Colon Street, Cebu City
- Gullas Medical Center, Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City
- Maritime College, Lapu-Lapu City
Other locations are in Toledo City , Dalaguete , Minglanilla and Compostela .
Faculties
The University of the Visayas houses fourteen different faculties , these are divided into higher education and technical schools, as well as colleges for vocational training . These include the Gullas College of Law, the Gullas College of Medicine and the Colleges of Density, -Pharmacy, -Arts and Science, -Business Administration, -Criminal Justice and -Education.
history
The history of the university began in 1919 when Don Vicente Gullas founded the Visayan Institute and taught 37 students for the first time in rented rooms of the City Central School . In 1948 the institute received university status and an extensive expansion program has been pursued ever since.
