Western Philippines University
The Western Philippines University (WPU) is a state university in the Philippines and is considered an important educational institution in the Philippines and in the Administrative Region MIMAROPA .

Courses
Western Philippines University offers a variety of courses for students to earn a Bachelor's or Master's degree . These are, for example, the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or the Masters in Marine Biology, Rural Development, Extension Systems Management, Agronomy and in Horticulture. It also has a computer training institute.
history
The university's history began in 1910 when the Aborlan Farm Settlement School was established for the Tagbanuwa indigenous people . It was expanded and received high school status in 1928 and was named Aborlan Agricultural High School. In 1960 it was renamed the Palawan Regional Agricultural School. In 1962 it was renamed the Palawan National School again and was merged with the Palawan National Agricultural College. In 1995 the status was increased by the renaming in the State Polytechnic College of Palawan, which received the status of a university in 2004 and the Western Philippines University was opened.
