history

The origins of the university go back to 1924, when the Bukidnon Provincial High School was first opened. In 1927, however, their status was reset; the school was renamed Bukidnon Normal School. The Commonwealth of the Philippines commissioned the school to teach Bukidnon's youth moral character, personal discipline, civic conscience, and professional ability . The school was closed on December 9, 1941 due to the outbreak of World War II and only reopened on September 1, 1945; the school building was destroyed during the war. The individual classes were taught in army tents, which were set up on the school grounds, or in private houses. Simple wooden huts served as classrooms from 1947 until the new school building was inaugurated on February 11, 1950. This was further modernized until 1957. From the 1952–53 school year, the school was also able to offer special advanced training courses that served adult education. The members of the Philippine Congress Carlos Fortich and Benjamin Tabios proposed the school as a national training facility in the early 1970s. In 1971 the population was given the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree on a second education path. At the same time the school was renamed the Bukidnon Normal College. On June 14, 1976 it was upgraded and the Bukidnon State College was created. Due to the better financial resources, new buildings could be built and older ones modernized. In 2007 the college received university status; The basis for this was the Republic Law 9456, which was signed by Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo .
