University of Mindanao

The University of Mindanao (UM), ( Filipino : Unibersidad ng Mindanaw ) is a private university in the Philippines recognized as a major educational institution in the Philippines and the Davao region administrative region . In the second semester of 2007, 29,765 students enrolled at the university. Its headquarters are on the Matina Campus on Bolton Street in Davao City . Other locations include the communities of Digos City , Tagum City and Cotabato City .

Faculties

The University of Mindanao houses nine different faculties , which are divided into higher education and technical school areas, as well as colleges for professional training . These are the College of Business Administration Education, the College of Engineering Education, the College of Accounting Education, the College of Law Education, the College of Architecture and Fine Arts Education, the College of Nursing Education, the College of Arts and Sciences Education, the College of Teacher Education and the College of Criminal Justice Education.

history

The university's history began on July 27, 1947, when the Mindanao Colleges were founded. In the first year of school, 381 students were taught by 13 teachers. In the late 1940s and 1950s the branch offices in Digos City, Bangoy, Peñaplata, Tagum City (1950), Guianga (1952), Ilang-Tibungco (1951), Panabo (1951), Bansalan (1962), Cotabato (1959 ) and Toril founded. On December 21, 1966, the college was granted university status. The university has been networked with the John Dewey International University Consortium of America, New York City , and the Fongchia College of Engineering and Business of Taipei, Taiwan since the 1970s .
