history
Malabon is an old settlement and was called Tambobong before the Spanish colonization . It was the settlement area of a tribe that was under the rule of the Rajah Sulayman . He was the cousin of Rajah Matanda, another ruler in the area. It is unclear in which year the Spaniards founded the city of Tambobong. Historians name 1571, 1600, 1607 or 1670 as possible founding years of an independent administrative unit. Records show that the area around Tambobong came under the administration of the Augustinian order on March 21, 1599 . In 1768 the Casa Regal de Tambobong was built, it served as the administrative center for Tambobong and Novatas. On January 6, 1906, the joint administration of Malabon and Navotas was separated and the name Malabon was introduced.
