The name Caloocan comes from the Tagalog and is derived from the root word lo-ok ; kalook-lookan (or kaloob-looban ) means something like "innermost area". This applies geographically at least to the southern part of Caloocan, which is surrounded by the cities of Manila , Navotas City , Malabon City , Valenzuela City and Quezon City .
Caloocan consists of two parts that are not spatially connected to one another. The southern part borders immediately north on Manila .
