San Juan City ( Filipino : Lungsod ng San Juan ) is a city on the northern Philippine island of Luzon . It is part of the metropolitan area of Manila . Before the metropolitan area merged, it was part of the Rizal Province . At the moment it is the smallest of the 16 cities in terms of area that make up Metro Manila alongside the capital itself.
