Pateros , Tagalog : Bayan ng Pateros , is a Filipino municipality in the southeast of the metropolitan area of Metro Manila . According to the 2015 census, Pateros had 63,840 residents living in 10 barangays . It is classified as the first income class community in the Philippines and as urbanized . Pateros is best known for its balut and slipper industry . It is the smallest of the municipalities belonging to the capital region.

The municipality is located on the banks of the Pasig River , which connects the Laguna de Bay with the Bay of Manila , in the southeast of the central Luzon lowlands. Patero's neighboring parishes are Makati City in the west, Pasig City in the north, and Taguig City in the south. The topography of the municipality is characterized by flat land.
